The Truth…?

In a world where the truth is often hard to recognise and reality is obscured by many different opinions, The Truth ...? attempts to portray the absurdity of this situation. This show is a fascinating exploration of how complicated and varied the truth can be.

On their cosily furnished stage, the protagonists begin a discussion about their desire to reshape the world. Changing things seems so simple, so close at hand. But one big problem disrupts their philosophical conversation: which of them gets to sit in the armchair? This fundamental question draws the two protagonists into a maelstrom of movements that make them fight, love, err and help each other.

Why so much fuss about an armchair, you might ask?

Because whoever takes that seat can bring the truth to light. The truth, this one and only truth. The universal truth, the solution to all existential and general questions of life. Between dictatorial speeches, jokes, acrobatic interludes and attempts to argue with common sense, the publication of the truth becomes a convoluted journey that never comes to a clear end.

The Truth...? is a start-up co-production by Zirkusquartier Zürich and celebrates its premiere on 1 March.
