Trilogie In Praise of Vulnerability: HATE ME, TENDER

For the first time, Teresa Vittucci is presenting her trilogy In Praise of Vulnerability in its entirety. The works HATE ME, TENDER, DOOM and SANE SATAN will all be performed at Tanzhaus Zurich in the same week. A rare opportunity to experience Vittucci's work as a concentrated load (once again).

In her solo piece, Teresa Vittucci takes an intelligent and humorous look at one of the most important and influential female figures in Western culture: the Virgin Mary. The Mother of God, who is culturally regarded as the epitome of purity and innocence, is simultaneously revered by church authorities and criticised by feminist movements for the female stereotypes that this figure has spawned. The Virgin has polarised generations – not least because she is a woman. With haunting and delicate power, Vittucci embarks on a crusade to decipher the queer potential of this biblical figure and deconstruct the fetishisation of virginity. It is time to reinstate the matriarch Mary in her potential role as a powerful heroine and ambassador of queer feminism, armed with the weapon of her vulnerable, kind heart. HATE ME, TENDER was awarded the Swiss Dance Prize in 2019.

DOOM will be shown on 9 April. SANE SATAN will be shown on 12 April.
