How Ida hides a treasure and Jakub can’t find it

Treasure hunt with characters and a live camera | Ages 5+

Nature | Adventure | Magic

‘Hiding a treasure – now that would be something,’ thinks Ida. ‘Finding a treasure – now that would be something,’ thinks Jakub, and without further ado draws a treasure map so they can set off on their quest. And so the play takes the children ever deeper into a wilderness where animals speak, mountains laugh, the trees hang their heads and the mist is a good listener. The author, Andri Beyeler, sends his two main characters into close contact with nature: Ida follows her gut instinct entirely, whilst Jakub takes things as they come.

This wondrous journey is staged using puppetry and a live camera. The camera brings out the magic in the everyday: A small puddle becomes an ocean when you zoom in close enough; the furrows left by a plastic rake in the sandpit turn into a ploughed field, and a colourful bucket appears as a sunset.

The play is suitable for children aged 5 and over and from the second year of nursery school onwards. Thanks to its remarkable production, which playfully offers insights into filmmaking, it is also very interesting for older children. In any case, it offers an entertaining hour for the whole family. And last but not least, thanks to its strong visual presentation, the play is also accessible to people who understand little (Swiss) German.
