Dance tips in October

Tap dance, holiday camp, desert images and traces of the past - the events in October show just how multifaceted dance is.

Tap dance fusion

Daniel Borak and his Tap Dan's Company merge tap dance with contemporary dance, modern dance and hip-hop in Untitled . Accompanied by pulsating sounds, a mixture of choreography and improvisation unfolds. Themes such as love and hate, clarity and chaos are explored in fast-paced soundscapes. Anyone who only knows tap dance as a nostalgic show number will experience the topicality and complexity of this dance here.

Holidays on the stage

This holiday project invites children aged nine and over to transform their own dream world into movement. In the Dream Dance Camp, they discover new forms of expression using various dance techniques. Together, the participants develop a story that gradually evolves into a stage miniature. In addition to dancing, the focus is on playing with music, team spirit and imagination, and the work is presented at a show at the end.

Rooms of the desert

The Moroccan choreographer Radouan Mriziga dedicates this part of his trilogy to the desert as a cultural and spiritual space. Magec / The Desert opens up a multi-layered web of myths, sounds and architectural forms. Dancing gestures, live music and precise spatial drawings combine to create a ritual that makes the fragile relationship between man and nature tangible. A piece that invites the audience to reflect on community, identity and how we treat our environment.

Where the past dances

Sophie Germanier and her collective build bridges between past and present. Based on historical Swiss dance prohibitions and old courtly movement sequences, a performance is created that moves freely through the exhibition space. The dancers interact with works of art, move in historical gestures and blur the boundaries between spectators and dancers: Those who move through the space become part of an exploration of memory, tradition and the question of how history is inscribed in the body.
