A rainbow-colored spring

We queers love the rainbow. We like our colorful balloons, six-color flags, and unicorn pins. And what we love most of all is being with each other, sharing, dancing, singing, flirting, and cuddling.

Right now might not be the best time to check out events or confess our feelings to our Instagram crush. Plans are canceled regularly these days. And on top of that, we can barely wait until we can hold hands with our datemates again.

Safe spaces and peer-to-peer interaction are essential for queer individuals. I’d like to highlight a few events you can check out that are taking place, despite the circumstances. But since that’s not enough, I’ll also recommend a variety of organizations that hold regular events or meetups. If you subscribe to these newsletters or follow Instagram accounts for the organizations that follow, you won’t miss a single event. Who knows – maybe we’ll be seeing each other soon?

If you’re looking to network in the queer community and actively engage for a better future, then I’d highly recommend Milch-Uni.

Milch-Uni is organized by Milchjugend, one of my favorite clubs. This is what Milchjugend has to say about itself: «Falschsexuelle Welten – We are the youth organization for lesbian, gay, bi, trans, and asexual youths, and for everyone in between and otherwise.» They organize the lila. festival, the best queer festival out there. The festival is an annual highlight on the queer calendar, and is regularly sold out. When the time comes, I’ll be reporting more about it.

TGNS is short for the Transgender Network Switzerland (I’m part of the co-presidency). The level of engagement demonstrated by the Arbeitsgruppe Jugend is really impressive. It’s not just the youth chats, in which young trans people can talk and exchange ideas and help each other out. There are also regular events, which the admin team does a fantastic job of organizing and moderating. The youth meetups take place on the 5th day of each the month, and you can find out more information on their website.

TGNS is an umbrella organization that organizes a variety of opportunities for trans individuals, like an annual trans conference, or monthly conversation groups aimed at all age groups. It’s worth subscribing to the newsletter, which delivers the latest TGNS issues. To sign up for it, click here.

What do you get when you merge L-Punkt and z&h? You get PolyUniQue. This student association welcomes everyone looking to network with queer students. It doesn’t matter if you’re out or if you’re not. But if you’re looking for a night of karaoke, dinner, or just a walk, registering for their newsletter is a good way to keep up with what’s going on.
