Live music tips for November

Austria delivers consistently. The latest smash band from our neighbouring country is called Endless Wellness and released their debut album "Was für ein Glück" this year. You can't expect a more melancholic, funny and endearing German-language record this year.

Christian Scott began his career as a jazz trumpet prodigy in the tradition of Miles Davis. After Hurricane Katrina, the musician from New Orleans began to combine his art with a political stance. In the meantime, he has intensively explored his roots in the black culture of his home town, changed his name to Xian aTunde Adjuah and recorded his last album "Bark Out Thunder Roar Out Lightning" using only instruments he developed himself. He remains a fascinating, exceptional jazz talent.

The Irish post-punk band Fontaines D.C. already attracted international attention with their debut "Dogrel" in 2019. They have now reached album number four with "Romance" and are also trying their hand at poppy synthesizers in places. However, they will certainly have retained their live energy.

Chelsea Wolfe makes music for witchcraft. Atmospheric, black and heavy. She once used the acoustic guitar as her medium, later the electric version. Today, Wolfe Wolfe is out and about in the world of dark electronica to bewitch her listeners.

Wednesday | 6 Nov | Rote Fabrik

Laetitia Sadier at the Waxy Bar? The former singer of the British-French krautpop group Stereolab and one of the great voices of 90s indie music in the small, intimate setting of this nut and beer bar? This is certainly a special event. Sadier's side project Little Tornadoes with the Swiss David Thayer and the British multi-instrumentalist with the stage name Pink Shabab will provide a dignified setting for this special evening.

Monday | 11 November, Waxy Bar

Die Nerven are back on the road and have a new album with "Wir Waren Hier", including a look back at their 14-year band history. "Hooray for youth, luckily it's over," summarises the Stuttgart post-punk trio. Last year, they caused an admission ban at the Winterthur Musikfestwochen, and the Bogen F's Hexenkessel is well-deserved compensation for all those who had to stand outside back then.
