Live music in February

In February, there will be a visit from a hip-hop icon and Swiss industrial legends as well as new, multidisciplinary releases.

Scales

Fjälla are releasing a new EP and celebrating with four gigs in Helsinki. The songs released by the Zurich band in recent months promise great things for the release entitled "Abbastanza". Italian suits their woozy post-punk particularly well, but as we know, this band is multilingual. And also multidisciplinary: the four concerts are announced as independent events "in costume, poetry and performance".

Masego

"Tadow" made Masego famous in one fell swoop in 2018. The track has everything that characterises this artist: the soul and R'n'B vibes of a fading summer's day, pop appeal and incomparable saxophone hooks. The result is a superstar who is now making his second stop in Zurich.

Meta Zero

After more than three years, Meta Zero are releasing their second album and celebrating the release at Moods. The first album by this Zurich jazz quartet consisting of Samir Böhringer, Rafael Schilt, Dave Gisler and Raphael Walser was an experimental mesh of the abstract and the conventional, sometimes closely based on the basic melodic and structural ideas of jazz, sometimes floating in the middle of nowhere. Let's see what comes next.

GZA & Phunky Nomads

GZA also calls himself "The Genius". The co-founder of the Wu-Tang Clan is regarded as the intellectual head of this greatest of all hip-hop groups. He is headlining the FM Hip-Hop Festival at Dynamo, which will also feature the Swede Prop Dylan, the German group Der Zweig and the St. Gallen Bungle Brothers.

The Young Gods

Terry Riley's "In C" is an important piece of minimalism and one that is never performed in the same way. The sheet of music consists of 53 musical phrases of varying lengths, which can be played by a varying number of musicians. How they are combined and how often they are repeated is up to the performer. The piece is therefore perfectly suited to a band like The Young Gods, the industrial pioneers from Fribourg. They use the sampler as a central element of their hypnotic, powerful music and will be presenting their interpretation of "In C" at the Zentralwäscherei.

From chain mail to a club

At the Ritterhaus Bubikon, Gustavo immerses himself in the world of knights. In the end, however, it is a centuries-old craft that fascinates him most.
