Live music in June

What Nils Petter Molvær does with his trumpet and a whole range of effect devices has very little to do with classical trumpet music. Since the 90s, the Norwegian has been embedding his instrument in avant-garde compositions that sound like electronica, ambient, sometimes even sci-fi film music. Jazz is only vaguely discernible on the horizon, which is what Moods chalks up this performance as.

Let's stay with Norway right away: On the same evening, Sento in Helsinki offers the counter-programme to Nils Petter Molvær: the young Swiss-Norwegian musician revives French House in his funky tracks. The time is ripe for a revival, after all, the early 2000s have been in again for a while.

But since the underdog of US gangster rap has cancelled once again, it's all the easier to decide to see the underdog of Swiss-German rap live instead. OG Florin will be performing at the Barfussbar in the Frauenbadi. Somewhere between guitar sounds and boombap beats, dreamy songs and slacker rap, this young man is doing a lot right.

Ali Doğan Gönültaş worked on his debut "Kiğı" for ten years. It is named after his native Anatolian village and takes you into the beguiling tangle of languages and musical traditions of Anatolia. As part of the Mediterrenean Music Festival, the Rote Fabrik brings this special musician to Zurich.

Nine years have passed since Warpaint became darlings of the indie scene with their second, self-titled album. Another album followed two years later and the fear that that was probably the end of it. They thought wrong: with last year's "Radiate Like This", the Californians made a grandiose return full of depth and the joy of experimentation. They will present the album at the Volkshaus.
