Steps - a contemporary dance festival for the whole of Switzerland

The Migros-Kulturprozent Dance Festival Steps takes place every two years. Here you will find selected event tips in the canton of Zurich.

Goodbye theatre auditorium, hello lobby!

The site-specific performance installation Almost Home takes the audience into a hotel. Mirjam Gurtner's piece enables a unique journey of discovery through spaces that suddenly take on a different meaning. If you want to roam the rooms of the 25hours Hotel and encounter unfamiliar ways of seeing, this is the place for you.

All performances in Zurich are sold out except the one on April 29, 2022 at 20:00 at the 25hours Hotel Zurich West. More

Out of balance

What happens when the surreal circus world of Martin Zimmermann combines with the clean lines of Kinsun Chan? In their first collaboration Wonderful World, an interplay of circus, theater and dance emerges. Always with an eye on what happens when society gets out of balance. Anyone who wants to learn more about human behavior patterns in states of emergency should definitely not miss this opportunity.

«HORAkel»

A new format with a new perspective on mediation and stage events starts in the supporting program. Steps develops short videos together with Theater HORA. HORA ensemble members visit Steps events and share their impressions afterwards. These conversations are documented on film and published on the Steps website. An invitation to approach dance from a different perspective.

Utopian Experiments

What is it that fascinates us humans so much about utopias? Annie Hanauer deals with this question in her piece A space for all our tomorrows. Maybe it's the utopian experiments that bring about change and maybe the stage is the ideal place to show different perspectives and designs. Go there and find your own answer to these questions.
