7 event tips for all culture-hungry people at home
Outside, because it's beautiful
What could be better than spending balmy summer evenings outside and enjoying culture at the same time? For example, you can let yourself be blown around by a fresh breeze from Lake Zurich while watching the Swiss film L'Invitation as part of "Film am See". An award-winning social satire from the 70s, appropriately set on a hot summer day. If you prefer to stay in the shade of old trees, the Old Botanical Garden is a good place to be: There, the literature festival takes place in July - the British-Nigerian writer Bernardine Evaristo kicks things off with her new novel "Mr. Loverman". And for all music lovers, the City Summer Concerts are a must: the free concerts with Zurich musicians take place all over the city. Among others, Mount Jacinto and Blanche Biau can be seen in Sihlhölzli Park on 4 August.
Inside, where it's cool
And there is also a selection of cultural tips for those who prefer to spend the summer indoors. Look Behind The Mirror is a production developed by secondary school students together with experienced artists. The music theatre deals with social norms and the question of what is hidden behind our mirror image. The public tour with "Ich seh's anders" (I see things differently) at Haus Konstruktiv also provides a change of perspective : the project aims to bring people with and without cognitive disabilities together. The project participants have developed different formats of communication and thus enable museum visitors to see the works of art from a different perspective. The Villa Kun(s)terbunt is recommended for a cool cultural afternoon with children: at the Kunsthaus Zürich, children can explore the artworks with all their senses and then paint and craft them themselves. And while many music clubs take a summer break, the Mehrspur remains open. A recommendation for those who like to explore is the concert by Follia, who, with double bass and loop station, will play everything from classical music to folk and pop.
