Since 2006 in Zurich's Langstrassen district - the MAXIM Theatre sees itself as transcultural, participatory, cross-generational, interdisciplinary and committed to addressing socially relevant issues.
For many people from different cultural, religious, linguistic and social circles, it is a place of encounter and debate. Central to the MAXIM is the open space where art takes centre stage. Here, people can get involved and help shape the arts: Theatre performances, concerts, dance performances, film screenings as well as readings and discussions are developed and carried out in a participatory process. The MAXIM Theatre understands art as a practice for social change and is an umbrella for diverse artistic productions.
Our vision is a culture of collaboration that is newly formed in and through exchange. The MAXIM means the whole city, and makes no distinctions between people who are here or have always been here because of flight, work or love. It provides access to cultural offerings for all members of the heterogeneous population.
Upper floor accessible to all, lower floor currently not yet wheelchair accessible.
