Natural Fibres: From Linen, Hemp and Nettle to Textile Creations (Course)

Would you like to try your hand at blue-dyeing or weaving? Then you’ve come to the right place. We’re talking about working with an ancient crop: flax. The labour-intensive process of extracting the plant fibres forms part of our cultural heritage. In days gone by, the fibres of flax, as well as those of hemp and nettles, formed the basis for the production of a wide range of everyday objects. Nowadays, ropes, sacks and clothing are made from plastic – our ancestors used the bast of trees and grasses. From nettle twine and grass baskets to fine linen fabric – here you can try your hand at each individual step of the process.
