Living on air and love
A look at the masters of survival in the air: Tillandsia thrive where others can barely reach.
Tillandsias grow on telephone poles, roofs, trees or cacti. Because they appear so undemanding at first glance, they are said to live on ‘air and love’.
The two identical guided tours focus on Tillandsia, a genus comprising over 500 species, which is found from the southern United States almost to the southern tip of South America. The focus is on their diversity and their ingenious adaptations to life without soil, as well as what to bear in mind when cultivating these extraordinary air plants.
The free guided tours with our cultural guide Verena Plath take place from 10 am to 11 am and from 12 noon to 1 pm. The meeting point is in the foyer.
