Sex work: Between self-determination, stigma and the system
FIZ Panel Discussion & Reading
Sex work is characterised by social stigma, the legal framework and structural challenges. At the same time, it is important to draw a clear distinction between sex work and human trafficking for the purpose of sexual exploitation.
As part of ‘Zürich liest’, experts from the fields of counselling, law and research will discuss the realities of sex workers’ lives, the effects of stigmatisation and current challenges. The potential consequences of a ban on the purchase of sexual services in Switzerland will also be addressed.
The panel discussion will be complemented by readings from the book *Ich bin Sexarbeiterin* (*I am a sex worker*), which the FIZ published in 2020 in collaboration with other stakeholders.
