Dance highlights in June

Wie die Einsamkeit zum humorvollen Duett wird, ein interaktiver Austausch von Bewegungen und die zeitgenössische Umsetzung eines Opferrituals.

Boredom turns into a duet

How often have you wished for a playmate when you were bored? That's exactly what the dancer in Petitpas & I wants. She sits alone in the room and wishes for someone to play with. And there, suddenly, a puppet stirs. The loneliness turns into a funny duet. Between the marionette and the dancer, situations arise around joy, care, dominance and conflict. An emotional rollercoaster for young and old.

Sacrificial Ritual 2.0

Le Sacre du Printemps once a piece by composer Igor Stravinsky and choreographer Vaslav Nijinsky thematises a sacrificial ritual in honour of the earth. A century after its premiere, Michiel Vandevelde places the sacrificial ceremony in a contemporary context. Who sacrifices for whom? And what might a new beginning look like if humanity were to sacrifice itself? Vandevelde gives the more than hundred-year-old material a smart twist. Anyone who wants to know how Stravinsky and pulsating beats go together should definitely not miss this duet.

Of fears, anger and hope

At Hecht jetzt - Das Tryout-Festival , Martha Mutapay, Lou Steiger and Anna Chiedza Spörri present a play that deals with their own traumatic experiences. What effect do such experiences of structural racism and sexism have on the body? The dancers share their pain and overcome it with repetitive movements and moments of silence. Inspired by the fate of Medusa, they negotiate individual but also collective traumas. An important piece that transforms negative experiences into strength and resilience.

Movement Exchange

Please Feed the Dancers is a dance performance that invites the audience to participate. It negotiates the relationship between performer and spectator. A transparent cube surrounds the dancers. In pairs or alone, the audience can enter the glass box and engage in the encounter with the dancers, thus exploring the meaning of interpersonal exchange. An exciting format in which the audience co-choreographs and explores movement.
