Winterthur dances

From 11 to 14 May, Winterthur's old town will once again be transformed into a dance floor for the big Winterthur Dance Festival. With its varied programme of exciting stage plays, courses to join in, films and walks, the dance festival is a must for all dance lovers and anyone who enjoys movement. Tanzfest Winterthur is part of the national dance festival, which takes place every May in over 30 cities simultaneously with touring companies.

Moving is fun

"Move, sweat, smile" - this is the motto of the Capoeira course. You can expect a mixture of dance, movement, martial arts and acrobatics. The many different elements of Capoeira will give you an ideal insight. The focus of the course is on the joy of moving together and is suitable for everyone, regardless of physical conditions or previous knowledge.

Figure skating on wheels

In Winterthur, artists swap their skates for roller skates. Wheels and Cello is the first choreographic project by Le Patin, a group of former figure skating professionals. The street show is accompanied by live cello music and is a testament to virtuosity and humour.

Where is Walter?

Inspired by the Wimmel book, the Merge Dance Collective created a dance piece around uniqueness and the courage and desire to live it out. Reluctant Walter is a humorous story by Audrey Wagner, which takes place together with the Merge Dance Collective and a crowd from Winterthur. If you like to watch and join in yourself, you should definitely not miss this event.

Dancing through the city

A dancing audio walk through Winterthur. This is what the audio performance Als es plötzlich wir waren - Anleitungen zum Tanz oder andere Zustände by Christina Gabriela Galli promises. You move through public space as instructions are given via headphones. Throw yourself into this interactive, auditory adventure and experience the city from a new perspective.
