Museums away from the crowds: many open longer once a week and offer exciting events. Here are some recommendations for your next after-work visit.

The longer opening hours are a good opportunity to visit museums away from the crowds and clear your head after work. In addition, many museums offer exciting events on these evenings.

Further down in this article you will find a non-exhaustive list of museums that sometimes close their doors a little later during the week.

Ethnology?

In a public discussion, the Ethnological Museum questions its own name: Is it still appropriate for the times? What role should a museum play in Zurich? What contribution can an ethnological museum make to overcoming global inequalities? All these questions will be discussed in a panel discussion. There will also be regular guided tours of the museum on Thursdays with the long opening hours.

Exchange as a form of artistic debate

"Message Salon" is an art project by Esther Eppstein that has been on tour since 1996. At present, the salon is based at the Migros Museum für Gegenwartskunst. It is defined by the encounter of different people in the context of art and the documentation of what happens as part of Eppstein's art. Here, the focus is on exchange; those who prefer to be guided can do so during the tour. The next After-Work Tour is on Thursday, 18 May 2023, at 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm.
