Dance tips in February

This month offers dance pieces on family issues, the permeability of social "bubbles" and a journey of two Black bodies.

What is family?

Do we prioritise individuality over our family? What role does the family play in today's world and what does it mean to be siblings? Brothers Julian and Max Blum pose these questions in their stage play Kaay. With live music and contemporary circus, the brothers explore and form answers to their questions and unfold a story of growing up together, finding their own identity and letting go of their old home. Let yourself be taken into the world of the Blum brothers and perhaps find your own answers.

Dance and wine

The Winterthur Theatre offers the opportunity to attend a rehearsal with the dance company La Ronde. During the rehearsal week, participants will gain an insight into the work of renowned choreographers and dancers. After the rehearsal, there will be an opportunity to chat to the artists at the bar. Take advantage of this glimpse behind the scenes and register now!

Permeability between bubbles

Bubbles do not refer to soap bubbles or bursting chewing gum bubbles, but to circles of friends. The participatory dance project of the same name explores both the beautiful and problematic aspects of a bubble as a homogeneous social space together with the participating young people. Together, the possibilities of permeability between bubbles will be explored and will dissolve through dance over the course of the evening. An exciting project for young people to move outside their comfort zone.

Two bodies, one story

A journey of two Black bodies through space and time, each telling their own story. Stories of dissidence, racialisation and repression. In Mira, Ivy Monteiro and Wellington Gadelha explore where their emotional geographies overlap and how they can communicate with each other. Using vogue and dances from the Afro-diaspora in north-east Brazil, the artists move in a maelstrom of symbols and ritual movement patterns and create a powerful, pulsating piece.

He says | She says: Rubbish or treasure?

Rebekka has only recently started using the term ‘circular economy’, but she has understood the concept behind it for years. For Sebastian, it’s the other way round.
